MOT pass, but 8 (yes eight) advisories

Probably not a record. Can get advisories on all sorts.

I bought an E38 7-series for three grand under market value knowing it needed work but threw it in for the MOT ready to do some spannering.

11 advisories! ARB bushes and droplinks all round, all 4 tyres, rocker cover gasket and a couple other silly bits. Was a fantastic car after spending a weekend on it!

The damage to the tyre can't be that bad as it was a £27 MOT from Halfords and I'm sure they would have taken the opportunity to offer me a discount on a new one .

I got eight on mine. 4 slightly corroded brake pipes, three worn tyres and......wait for it..... the utterly bizarre .......objects removed from drivers view before test. That'll be my mighty oak air freshener, which I guess here in bitter Scotland (I'm Scottish by the way) the tester didn't like (Union Flag).

My Golf passed with 10 advisories last year,one of those a 30% off front right shock which was very close to a fail.

This year failed MOT thanks to a not working indicator,came back passed with no advisories.

I just got 8 on my workhorse car. He missed 4 by my reckoning.

My favourite advisory is "Battery terminal secure with duck tape", followed closely by "large piece of damage to side of vehicle".

I just bought a new car and failed the MOT in N. Ireland on 4 issues. Thankfully I was moving to England soon after and it passed here with only 3 advisories. Money well saved as they aren't safety issues.

For those of you unaware in N. Ireland our MOT centers are government run and they do not offer any repairs or work etc. We also don't have advisories, if something is slightly wrong then it's a fail. I've seen a lot of cars here which would have been put off the road at home.
