Spotted - MG Turbo 6

The other week in Glasgow i spotted a unfamiliar looking red car. I caught up and saw that it was an MG Turbo 6.

I'd never heard of one of these before. It looked kind of alright, like a watered down VXR8. I finally got round to googling about it today. Turns out it's a fairly rare car

Saw one of these in sheffield the other week too. Not all that bad looking IMO, certainly had me wondering what it was!

I wouldn't call it good looking, but it's certainly no worse than average. They apparently drive pretty well, too.

I saw it heading West on London Road. Good chance it is the same car. The wiki link mentioned something like only 15 sold, then a rental company took another 100.

Had an MG6 hire car recently which is a 1.8 turbo - mere 160bhp. Didn't feel turbocharged at all - felt gutless tbh and incredibly cheap inside. Did handle surprisingly well though and could carry a lot of speed, plus reasonable economy.

Cheap inside wouldn't bother me, but they do desperately need something more modern than a worked-over K-series under the bonnet if they want it to appeal to enthusiasts; and a diesel or one of these modern super-low capacity petrols if they want it to appeal to the mainstream.

Version we had was only a 5 speed, although I think a 6 speed is available. Worst key fob I have ever seen!!
