A cheap what car

Due to the colt throwing its toys out the pram in a big way and wanting a 700 quid steering rack, i require a new car to fill the gap between now and being able to afford all the faff with fitting a new rack.

750 quid max. I want something funish, i was thinking saab, im not bothered about getting my money back from it, but i want it to survive till next year.

A basic A4, b5 bullet proof mechanics, fantastic build quality, good fuel economy, and never any rust issues,
What's not to like plus you should easily find one for that kind of money.
You could maybe find a Quattro for some 4 wheel drive fun during the winter.
