Quick question:

Obviously when getting insurance you have to declare any convictions within the last 5 years.
Some sites I've seen allow you to put the date of the offence, but not all (I don't think)

I renewed my insurance a few weeks ago, which included 3 points from 4 years and 10 months ago, for which I'm paying about an extra 75-100 for. In two months time can I ring up the insurance company and tell them I no longer have any points/convictions within the last 5 years?

If I was given 3 points next week, I'm sure the insurance company would want me to tell them, and they would increase the price for it. Does it work the other way?

AFAIK there's no point or necessity in telling them before your next renewal date.

Most insurance companies won't load for 3 points anyway or so I am led to believe

Of course.

But I wouldn't hold out much hope for the corresponding adjustment in your premium you appear to think should be forthcoming.

Many do - this is blatant profiteering.

Admiral do.
I'd like to see a list of those who do.

i know this isn't massively relevant, but shortly after passing my test, i was both involved in a crash (at fault, write-off), and got points(3 points, TS10). My renewal was £1100 which was £150 lower than my first year driving.

Adrian Flux didnt increase my premium when i got 4 points for speeding from the judge. They said as it was my first offence that it was ok.

I think they've increased the price of mine for most of the last 5 years, which is why I can't wait to get rid of the buggers!

What were they for?

I've got the paperwork sitting to go to the court to pay £60 and 3 points for 78 in a 60.

Not sure whether to tell the insurance company or not. Paid the renewal till next May anyway.

I suspect you are obliged to tell them, but they don't load the premium till renewal. Any insurance bods here who can confirm?

I've always wondered this. They calculated the premium at the time of the quote. Does that stand for a year or not? If I have to tell them I will, just don't see why I should pay even more than they are already ripping me off for.

You won't need to tell them until renewal time.

The judge? That's a serious offence to only get 4 points for.

60 in a 40 that is a dual carriage way with no housing near it at gone midnight.
The only 2 cars on the road were me and the unmarked police car :-( .

This is true with every insurer we deal with. However, the direct market may charge you as could be construed as an adjustment. In which case maybe admin fee time.

Pretty sure I'm going to get something in the post in the next two weeks, driving as 'slow as a fart' down the A312 on Sunday afternoon I didn't notice that my speed had crept up to 34, and only realised it was a 30 when I saw the flashes in my mirror.

It will be my first speeding conviction since I started driving 20 years ago. I'm good at sticking to the speed however daft the limit is, but after a couple of miles of single lanes each way I got to the dual lanes with the reservation and no traffic I let the car speed up without noticing. So annoyed at myself. Hoping for propaganda re-education rather than points.

At that speed, you may not even hear from them, and if so, then likely to be speed awareness course offer. Does banking in the middle have any impact on area with street lights?
