R8 crashes into bus - some seriously biased reporting
Discussion
Just seen this:

Absolutely tragic and sincere condolences to the family. What annoyed me greatly was the paragraph stating how the car is a) expensive and b) very fast... so, rich guy in a fast car is in an accident and the not so subtle undertone here is that because of this he was obviously hooning it and is totally at fault.
I can hear brake rubbing their hands with glee from here

How on earth has that happened though. The bus seems to be on the wrong side of the road, but is that just post collision ?
How do people end up dead in 2 vehicle collisions in town, though unless someone was being a plank?
Weird thing is the Audi doesn't seem to badly damaged, door and passenger compartment seem to be right shape. Lowr leg issue maybe. But could it be a no seatbelt issue causing head injury?
Very Sad for all involved

I hate to say it, but that seems almost balanced for a DM report. No speculation about the cause of the crash, and the stupid obligatory shot of an un-crashed car appears only at the very bottom.
I'd have expected to see more questions about how the driver managed to cause that much damage in what is presumably a 30 limit.

I don't see how the report is biased personally, it's just got filler in it, the filler pertaining to the cost and speed of the car, go on any news article which states irrelevant s
te just to fill some space, e.g. stating someone's occupation when it's of no relevance.
And from what I've heard he was going alot faster than 30 and on the wrong side of the road overtaking another car, could be just speculation though.

Not sure if serious? How do people end up dead in 2 vehicle collisions in town, though unless someone was being a plank?
Audi could have been doing silly speeds on the wrong side of the road overtaking or even just lost control at speed it could have bounced off the front of the bus leaving it where it is in that picture.
Im guessing the R8 was turning left at the lights and lost it into the path of the bus which was going into the filter lane and about to turn right into the road the R8 had just exited right, i would hazard a guess at saying he suffered internal injuries, doesn't take much to rupture an artery and bleed out, feel sorry for the wife, kids and emergency services in attendance.

It's a straight road, and apparently he was heading towards the high street to get home, so going straight, no turing involved. There's a left turn after the lights into a side street, but after a 30mph speed camera only 30 yards back, I doubt even in an R8 most people would be up to enough speed to cause that damage if they knew they were turing left into a 20mph area, unless they were a massive helmet. An R8 is a Supercar to most of the public, me included really.
Very sad, the R8 looks like it stood up very well to the impact but we are really quite delicate creatures and fate is such that one impact will have you walking away cursing your luck and another causes your death, even if nobody was doing anything wrong, when any car meets a bus head on then physics takes over.

One of these vehicles must have been doing a lot more than 30mph to do that sort of damage.
I don't know. 60mph closing speed (should neither of them had braked, which is unlikely) is going to do a lot of damage. Especially when one of the vehicles is a bus.S. Gonzales Esq. said:

And surely at least one person lives in a mansion. Standards are slipping at the HateMail. I'd have expected to see more questions about how the driver managed to cause that much damage in what is presumably a 30 limit.
