why the front fog lights??

That dark drive home is with us again and as regular as the dark nights.... The fog light brigade appear!
What is it with these people? Why do they use them? I've tried mine on dark, empty roads and can't see much gain from their inappropriate use?
I find this quite dazzling when the fog light tit appears in your mirror on wet roads. The glare can be quite awfull.
I do understand day runners, driving lights and all but front fogs with headlights? Why? Is it "cool" or have I missed something?
Or are you a fog light tit who can explain?

I was complaining yesterday that I think I'm one of the few people who uses the handbrake as its meant to be used.Every time I'm in traffic it's a sea of brake lights in front of me

heads with their rear fogs on, my eyes just get drawn to them.had some very light fog up here in the midlands yesterday and driving home people had their fogs on even though you could see tail lights quite clearly.. in fact on the lit dual carriageway they could have had all their lights off and still been fairly visible.
The fog-lights-are-on light in my car is very small and not on the main instrument cluster and easily obscured by hands or knees or something so maybe some people don't realise, as you said it makes no real difference.
What's all this about seeing the point of DRLs?
eta: as for all this junk about brake lights, if you're dazzled you're either too close or there's something wrong with your eyes. If I'm not going to be stopped long I'll use the foot brake for a quicker get away, if I'm stopped long enough for the hand brake I'll keep the foot brake on anyway. You never know. I bet you don't even park in gear?

I have a mate who thinks they make his car look cool. Im tempted to smash them just to stop his idiocy.
In the midlands too and the fog here has been a bit heavier than expected, didn't mind people using them to be fair as the ammount of grey honda jazzs appearing out of the mist has been scary.
I think people are just incapable of the most simple safe action, id love to see them put down.

I get low enough mpg in my M5 as it is, thanks. With this post, I'm glad I don't even *have* front foglights.More electrical power means more fuel used
