What is it that people do at petrol stations that really wind you up?

People that use the air bay as a parking spot annoy me, as do those that stop their car at the nearest pump rather than moving forward so you can use the pump behind them.

Not being able to put the filler cap back onto the filler neck.

Took her so long she actually had to move away from the pump, she was still trying to get it to stay in when i went in to pay after going to a different pump and filling up.

My three top sources of annoyance:

- Those who queue on the approach, out of lane position and ignoring free pumps, waiting for a free pump with the outlet on the side they think they need (because that pump hose is only 2feet long after all)

- Those not 'paying at pump' and risking their card details, so they can mouth-breathe and dither all the way to the till queue and back, to risk their card details safely.

- Those who you wouldnt ordinarily trust with a remote control, let alone allow to use the free air pump so f&*^ing slowly they have to press the reset button 3 times to get it done.

Why does no one know that they can fill up, move forward a car length so the next person can fill up while they go pay?!

I had an old man beep at me in frustration about 3 mins into a 5 mins fill of the TVR. Something not right with the pump, just very slow. I glanced at my watch, gave him a thumbs up and carried on filling, seemed to annoy him quite a bit! wavey

You've never filled a car with diesel then, have you?

Either that or you have some magical soap that gets rid of the smell of diesel off your hands as I can't bloody get rid of it!

This is particularly annoying. I can fill my Discovery from the "wrong" side so it does grate somewhat to have to wait behind someone in a Micra who thinks the hose won't reach.

That hose will also grate, it'll grate gritty fuel all over the paintwork on the back of your car as you stretch the hose to the max.

If someone is waiting for a hose on a particular side and the other side comes up, why not just drive round and use it yourself if they don't want it?

I work opposite a fuel station and its almost as if the moment someone pulls onto the forecourt they just go mental and lose all reasonable thoughts and actions.

Queueing for the correct side when there are empty pumps even though the hose on the empty pumps will pull out easily enough to reach the other side.

As above but blocking the entrance to the forecourt entirely thus causing a massive queue out on to the road.

Abandoning ones car at a pump with no intention of getting any fuel just to pop in to get a paper, or to do the weekly shop.

Washing your whole car with the bucket of water and windscreen squeegee.

People taking their time to get moving after paying for their purchase just to piss of the guy at the pump behind who paid a few minutes ago and is eager to get going.

People who get fuel and then have a leisurely wander around the mini M&S to pick up a few bits.

More so here than abroad.
