recommended 'cheap' HPI check?

Hi all,
I am going to see a car tomorrow but it is a bit of a punt as to whether it will be any good. I want to HPI it but would rather not spend the usual £20 for a full check. Are there any cheaper checks around that just give you the basics? I just want to know if it is a Cat X writeoff, or was ever stolen/recovered.
