Hobbies (with wheels)

I need a new hobby.

I have a bike and its never dry enough to go out.
I have a car that's fit for track but there's none within 100 miles - well closest is 100 then they're more like 200+. And even then the cars too precious [ghey]
I'm hoping to buy another motor soon but it'll be too fast for most things.

So, I'm looking for hobby ideas but naturally being a complete and utter petrolhead it needs to have wheels.

I'm considering off roading, or cheapish track car ( again problem of distance).

Ideas?

Well, I like to offroad. Cheap to do, plenty of options for cars, etc. A lot easier over here as you can go anywhere.

Another vote for a nitro or 2 stroke engine rc car. Toying with the idea myself, but not taking the plunge yet. I'm hoping Santa might bring me one!

Any decent kart tracks near you?

It'll be a bit more fun in the wet than the bike, just make sure you get something proper (2-stroke) and a set of wets.

Hard to answer that. Similar to "how much is a car"
Range is probably £2000 (older microlight with 2 stroke engine: equivalent to MG Midget) up to £40k (as pics above with 4 cylinder/4 stroke aviation engine: Equivalent to Lotus Elise)

That would be my suggestion too. Although it's the end of the season, have a look at www.club100.info . Awesome racing, with better drivers than your usual arrive and drive, great standard of kart and someone else's problem when it goes wrong.

Sand yacht racing? Cheap, fast (60 - 70mph with your head a few inches off he ground) - they generate impressive lateral G in the turns too.

Another vote for RC car, but electric not nitro or petrol as these are so temperamental especially when you are not experienced that you will be fed up with it after a few goes.

Brushless electric are quicker these days anyway.

The key though is to find your local club and go racing! Driving around a car park is only fun for so long.
I have been racing on and off for as long as i can remember!

I had one about 5 years ago, it was awesome!
About 4-5 feet long, and has the usual fun of building a Tamiya
