On Wednesday last week, the workers that have been building the new houses across the road in their eternal wisdom turned my road into a cul-de-sac ... great.

to enter my drive I would do the usual thing of driving past it and then reversing on.

Now that its a dead end, I have to go onto the driveway of the new houses ( that has been built upon the streets original turning point ) and then reverse onto my drive.

since the couple across the road have noticed this ( they have lived there for about 2mths now ) they have started to park their car as far back on their drive as possible, which makes life a little more tiresome for myself as it make my manoeuvring sequence marginally more complex depending on how much traffic is parked on the road.

Im considering asking them to park further forward as this will make life easier for myself ( although it may not if they are the aggressive type or the defiant type lol ) as they only have 1 car, and they do not use their garage. it only contains a hoover and a box from their flat screen tv.

the DS3 owner uses his garage and has x2 cars, and the third owner uses the space occasionally, as he normally parks outside the front of his house.

once this week i had to reverse back out of my street and then reverse up as cars were parked on both sides and all three spaces had cars parked in the outer space.

the reason i ask is that the main road is quite busy and I can see myself having to reverse up the road daily after waiting for buses and crazy taxis to give me space to reverse up from the main road.

so for the sake of an extra 1-2mins of extra parking time daily.. should i kick up a fuss lol smile

you're probably right.

its just annoying that before they built those houses, the outer space of their "parking" was actually road and provided a u-turn/passing point for everyone. frown

Its interesting that there are parking bays marked outside the garages opposite which seems unusual. I'd have a look at the planning consent to see if there is something in there.

Why not drive on to the area where the space outside the garage is empty and reverse from there. or move the builders road barricade so there is space for you to manoeuvre? Could have a word with the site foreman and ask him if they can be moved away from your drive a little way as you cant get in or out your drive without having to reverse whole way down the road?

Edited to add is the black car also yours? If so park it across your drive which will make life difficult certainly for the garage on the left!

the parking bays have the house numbers painted on the floor.

im not sure who or what the empty space adjacent to the kerb is assigned to though.

cant move the barricades, as they have used a digger to rip up the road and install paving kerbs and metal bollards... very much permanent frown

Doesn't look like you will have a problem when the barriers have gone.

As a bonus you have learned your new neighbours are tts.

Oops - spotted the bollards.

No, youre not being miserable and they are being annoying for the sake of it, a nice way to introduce themselves to the neighbourhood.

The blue swift yours and that drop kerb is just for you? You could play tit for tat, as there is no reason for you not to park infront of the drop kerb in order for them to realise how little room there is to maneuver when they reverse off of the drive. Alternatively move that plastic bollard at the end tight up against the metal pole, you should be able to reverse on the drive in one maneuver lock to lock if you get your angles right.

This. Just park on the roadside behind the Insignia and watch the tts opposite try to get out.

surely the PH thing to do is handbrake turn to line up and reverse in to the parking space, saves any cars having to be moved from where they are parked in the pic silly

Just park your car on the rd for a few days they will soon get the message. There are some inconsiderate t--ts out there. If you say something more than lightly you know you are going to get a gob full back you can tell that on how they park.Good luck.

I don't see the problem - its their property and they obviously don't want you turning on it. Seems fairly simple, why not respect their wishes?

They could have any number of reasons, including the fact that turning tyres on that kind of surface really messes it up (had a new build and a running battle with the builder about this issue), or maybe they just don't like you. In any case its their prerogative.

i can understand that point. fair enough.

but it means that i either drive on forwards, and then every morning reverse out, all the way down my street, and further out onto the main road before beginning my commute.

or as i said in an earlier post, stop in the middle of the main road, wait for someone to give me a gap and then reverse all the way up my road and then into my drive.

i haven't asked for these new houses, and objected to them at planning stage.

but they got built anyway. and now its causing me inconvenience... how is this fair on me?

How is it fair on the neighbours that you disrespect their property because you have a grievance with a planning decision they had no part in?
