Which brake pads - disc combo?

My brakes are st. They are stty cheapy Eurocarparts bargain bucket st.

So, what decent pad/disk combo should I replace them with?

I don't want to spend a fortune of Brembo top quality, but would like some decent stopping power with a fair bit of durability too.

When I bought my Fiesta ST, the brakes were pretty dire and I know Ford can do brakes as the Mondeos are excellent. So I spent £107 on a full set of EBC Green Stuff and the difference is night and day and braking is now sharp and confident on standard discs.

What exactly is poor about them, do they fade after use or do they just not stop very well?

Both. They fade under fast road use, but don't stop very well either.

I think the stopping efficiency might be down to the starse tyres that came on my Audi TT Ronals when I bought them. But will be putting some decent rubber as well as some decent stoppers on all in one go.

Ebc turbo grove discs and green stuff pads get some braided lines and some 5.1 and it will transform your brakes has on my vectra b and I don't go through discs and pads every 6months lol

Any advice on where to buy? Been looking on demontweeks but they are quite expensive.

Grooved discs are generally a waste of money and dot 5.1 is totally unnecessary in a road car.

I got my pads from demonweeks and the discs of ebc.co.uk a lot cheaper compared to demontweeks

Sure. But it probably would've stopped just as well if you'd used Dot 4 and plain discs with your Greenstuff pads.

Tried that standard discs didn't last 6 months then I got the turbogrove 1s and black diamond lines and some 5.1 put them on and I've had them on for over a year now

Fade is most likely due to old brake fluid. Brake fluid absorbs water over time, drastically lowering the boiling point. Get some decent new fluid in there.

The discs you have in there are probably ok if they arent worn out, just get some decent pads - I quite like the EBC bluestuff at the moment, no matter how hard I punish them they dont fade.

Just get what's OEM for your car. Cheap brakes, especially for the front are a false economy as you've found. Unless you've got a real performance car, decent front pads & discs shouldn't be too expensive, and will last years. They might be surprisingly affordable from the dealer, if not plenty of motor factors selling the brand you'd get from the dealer anyway for cheaper.

If the discs have a pronounced lip they'll probably need replacing, and as said before old fluid will make fade worse.

I'd go for OE pads, Pagid discs (carparts4less) and some new brake fluid. EBC's stuff is distinctly over-rated imo, and all-too-often compared to knackered cheap brake hardware for extra kudos that it doesn't deserve.

I used Pagid discs and pads purchased from eurocarparts, they're excellent IMO. (personally I don't like EBC).
