At the weekend, my parents ordered a new QASHQAI N-Tec+ which I did not know they were going to do.

When they told me about it, I had an inkling that I may have an employee discount scheme at work for Nissan. Turns out, I was right, employees and family are eligible for the discount, which is 20% apparently. This would obviously bring the cost of a new QASHQAI down substantially.

I have already emailed the Nissan Car Scheme people for the discount code for the car and dealer, but my question is - Can this be applied retrospectively? I have already told the parents they will need to call the dealer tomorrow to explain the situation and see if it can be done.

They were told that the car would be available for pick up in about a week and a half, which is pretty quick.

Are they going to have to cancel the car and reorder?

Cheers!

Usually family deals are on factory orders only, though I've not worked for Nissan so can't tell you exactly. Similarly most couldn't be retrospectively applied.

Depends on what other deal they are getting... 20% off list is great for a cash buyer but the retail deal of low rate finance and a deposit contribution might work out cheaper...

i have the same thing with vauxhall at work.

how does it work?

looking at the website it seems like i have to order online? trouble is, i could probably haggle a better discount by walking into a dealership.

or do i go in and haggle away, get a great deal, and then hit them with the surprise 20% discount that im entitled to ?

No, my company works with/for Nissan.

The way this deal appears to work, is that you email Nissan with the name of your closest dealer and the car/trim you are interested in and then they will send you a code to take into the dealer.

Thanks all, I kind of suspected they may have to cancel and re-order.

I know how much they have paid for the car, with external financing etc, and this would still save them a substantial amount of money.

Unfortunately, I believe they have already paid a deposit. We shall see what happens today.

Well, the dealer is prepared to take the code and give the appropriate discount, although they will not then take my parents old car in Part Ex and we would have to sell this privately, which I don't see a huge problem with.

The actual sticking point is that they need the code today, and so far, I have had no response from Nissan regarding it.
As I only have an email address as contact info for this, chasing it is going to be difficult (and I don't want to come off as pushy etc), plus it really doesn't surprise me I haven't had a response yet, I don't actually expect one for a couple of days.
