America seem to have this sorted, why cant we?
Really? Trust me, they don't. It's way worse than here. Every primary school with a huge queue of gargantuan SUV's, waiting to ferry little Johnny home, all sitting there with the engines running.
My Washington DC beltway commute would go from 90 mins to 55 mins during school holidays.

It's quiet, but probably only because a lot of parents who would normally be driving to work, have now taken the week off as leave to care for the kids.
Hush with your logic, this is a thread for people who hate mums in SUVs, not for people who are sitting in a half empty office because all the employees with kids have taken a week off.Captain Muppet said:

Whoops did I say that? What I meant to say is.. rar rar Chelsea Tractors ferrying little Jimmy to school before clogging up the Waitrose car park with their bad parking.

School run should be banned I hate mornin run to work but not as much as kicking out time at schools. The parking of some folk boggles my mind what are they thinking.
Its ok, they've got their hazards on.Actually found that quite horrific how a Mum could be so negligent and fail to see a 20ft tall yellow bus!

Don't disagree but in the state sector the school run is a by-product of parents being able to choose which school the sprogs go to rather than having to go to the nearest one. I do wonder how some parents have the time (and patience) to arrive at the school gates half an hour or more before chucking-out time. Dogwatch said:

Not necessarily. Our nearest school is 200metres away but we are not in the catchment so have to travel 2 miles along a busy main road having to cross 3 ofher busy roads on the way. No zebra crossings to help. Driving them is the only way when they are small. The school also ban cycling due to H&S .
