2003 Merc w211 E-class bonet stuck - HEP!

Hi All,

I have had this problem for a couple of days and have now taken the car to the garage.

The garage phoned and said they have spent 2hours with no success.

They have taken the wheel and lining off and still can not prize the latch with a bar.

Problem:

1. The driver side of the bonnet has opened.
2. The passengers side will not pop up
3. The little pull lever which pops out in the grill does not pop out (although we can just grab it)
4. The cable is fine and all connected.
5. Two men on the job bouncing the bonnet, pulling cord, using bar etc etc

They are now suggesting breaking the front grill and trying that way?

Please help, is there anything else they should try first.

I'm getting stressed now.

I have posted on the MB forum but no other suggestions yet.

Just did a quick search for you and found this response to a similar post:

"When I had the same problem they took a wire rod and bent it and stuck it through the grill until they eventually hooked it to the latch and freed it open"

So it can be done without having to butcher the grill by the sounds of things.

I have posted on mbforum and the wire through the grill does not work on the passenger side.

I think the grill might have to be broken.
