Why do franchised dealers always mess up my cars??
Discussion
I buy my cars brand new.
They are fine until they go in for a service or new tyres...all of which are carried out at the franchised dealer.
My cars always come back smelling of some horrid chemical apple scent they seem to think represents a clean car and/or kerbed alloys???
I know I shouldn't let it get to me.....but it does.
BMW, Porsche, Audi....they are all guilty....

Oh, mate...it just sounds petty, but my car went in for a new set of tyres...two wheels scratched...back in next week for a refurb...but they are diamond cut, which means I will have to polish them every week to prevent them from corroding...plus the car smells like a magic tree inside....just depresses me...it was perfect this morning.....Tell me about it!
My car always comes back with odd tyre pressures, on the same axel!
Last service they messed about with my tyre pressures, ripped my drivers floor mat?? Also they billed me for greasing my sunroof, the sunroof I don't have, and they tried to sell me a new spare tyre because mine was below 3mm.
It's on run flats there isn't even space for a spare!
It also tends to be showing below 15mpg and my average is normally 22-25. I don't think they are ragging it, they just leave it running and go for a brew or update Facebook.

I feel your pain.....
At the time, my 6 month old 172 came back from a service with a kerbed alloy. After much arguing they refurbed it at their cost only for it to come back looking as if they'd thrown a tin of paint over it. Much arguing later I came away with a new alloy.
This was the same dealer who, while I was there, told a bloke that his new Nissan Navaro was ready to go after fixing an electrical fault with the rear lights. He came back in 2 mins later to ask them where his rear bumper was and would they mind putting it back on.
Also, my then 1 year old Focus ST came back with a scratch in the bonnet and a cracked slam panel cover after a service. Even when I showed them the snap-on spanner embedded in the slam panel they denied it. I kept the spanner but replaced the cover and had the bonnet resprayed out of my own pocket. They still ring me to tell me its due its annual service. Haven't used them since funnily enough!
I now stick to a trusted local garage for all my cars.

To me that sounds far from petty.I've never bought brand new, but even so, if my car came back from service with scratched alloys, I would be apoplectic! (even if it was just one).
I'm assuming the refurb was at their expense?

Yep, all at their costs...plus they pointed it out to me. The chap in service is a really good bloke. It's just such a shame that I walk 10 extra miles per week to avoid parking in risky places, park 2 feet away from kerbs to avoid damaged alloys and never use any fragranced products inside the car to keep a neutral smell...yet it's all messed up as soon as it goes back to it's maker...so to speak!I've never bought brand new, but even so, if my car came back from service with scratched alloys, I would be apoplectic! If they were painted alloys - no probs. But as they are diamond cut, it means the original protection will be removed when refurbished, so constant weekly up keep with polish is paramount in preventing corrosion of the alloy.....
Perhaps I am just too fussy? Perhaps I should just learn to 'chill out' ....? :-)

If you have a Porsche they take it on a test drive and rev the nuts of it, which you don't know about until warranty renewal time. The guess what they tell you to do .
I've had two Porsches, both of which I extended the warranty....I had no such issues. BUT, they did spray horrid smelling air freshener inside the cabin after each service..despite me specific request not to..I leave a list of what NOT to do when my car goes off to Lexus and it comes back as it left. I can track the car real time too via the web, and have never even been charged for screenwash.
Tell them what needs to be done, no more no less! You are their boss and make sure they understand who contributes to their children's tea or their annual holiday!!
