Well, the neighbours I mentioned previously in the 'scruffy people' thread have bought another shed - a rather old Mk3 Polo with trim hanging off - to replace their current dying shed - a Fiat Ulysse.

I was outside washing mum's car, the aforementioned neighbor walked outside and asked what I thought of his recent purchase. I replied saying it looks alright but isn't really my sort of thing. He then went on to say 'I haven't got insurance on it yet but I'm only popping out to the local pub so it doesn't really matter', got in and drove off.

How stupid can you get?

He asked me previously what the consequences of driving untaxed are when he drove his other car - also a shed, a multi-colored Suzuki Baleno - on SORN and I explained, at that point I also briefly mentioned the consequences for driving un-insured. After this conversation he continued to drive without tax for 6 months, and now he's just gone out without insurance or tax! rolleyes

I think I'd end up feeling quite bad if I dobbed him in to be honest.

Would you feel bad if he cost you lots of money if he crashed into you?

Off to the pub is he?

If he drives home that's another reason to call it in.

If the OP has a brain he is with a company with an uninsured drivers guarantee, or some such.

I don't think he drinks, from what I know he just plays in a band.

Now I've thought about it; I'll wait for him to get back, note his reg number and call in.

What if the OP isn't in his car? What if the next door neighbour doesn't see him walking his dog and runs him over. How much use is his guarantee then?

What if someone runs over his dog with a wheelbarrow which doesn't have insurance anyway?

st happens.

OP. Check it on askmid first....you never know.... He might be feeding you lies to see if you will grass him up.

But still... Grass him up if he has no insurance.

A very enlightened arguement.

Squeal on him.

If the guy did mow someone down and you found out about it having kept quiet, it may not rest easy with you knowing that you could have got him off the road.

Just make sure he's at the pub when you call it in, so the BiB visit him there.

If he is someone who drives without insurance, what makes you think a fine or even removal of licence will stop him driving?

One problem with that - I haven't got his full reg number.

The cleanshirts on here will tell you to grass him up like a little weasel, but I'd steer clear. It's simply not worth getting involved in.

That's put me in two minds about it now. Will wait for him to get back and check the MID - although I do know where he has currently gone so could drive/ride up and get the number but I think that would be a bit over the top laugh
