OK, I've always taken the car allowance as, whilst my role qualifies, I don't do any miles for work so can pick and choose...

BUT, we've just introduced some rules, even for those who take the cash, as some of the sales guys were abusing the system (old unreliable cars and pocketing the cash - but then not making it to appointments etc)

So, when we change our car it must be less than 2yrs old, have less than 20k miles on the clock, <200g/co/km and better than 40mpg

so, planning to play to the letter, if not the spirit of these as still going to run what I want... so what's the cheapest way of meeting these rules - car will then live on the drive, or take me to Heathrow on occasion... some PH-ness in the car would be good, but not critical (eg used to quite like the original Ka for example)

Companies who have rules like those often require you to have at least 4 seats too, just in case someone mentions MX-5. smile

I have similar rules for my car allowance (new-ish, four seats), but I work in London (non sales role) and wouldn't drive to client site even if I was going to visit as they're all in London too. I decided I'd treat it as extra salary and buy what I wanted, then hire a car to the company spec. if I ever needed to. Coming up on five years later, I've still not had to hire a car! biggrin

Renaultsport Twingo 133 does 42mpg average and 155g CO2. You might even enjoy it driving

Other similar options - Suzuki Swift Sport, Fiat Panda 100HP, Mitsubishi Colt CZT, Fiesta ST etc.

Good move.

However for OP what's on the co car list? I ask as basically it may be the lessor of two evils
