Trying to sell a nice clean IS200, wasted #60 on autotrader and another few quid on the print version.

Would anyone mind just eyeballing the advert to sanity check it please?

http://classifieds.pistonheads.com/classifieds/use...

If this is out of order, I'm happy to delete this post.

Well it looks ok, but it is just a big wall of text that assaults the eyes. Try breaking it up, using bullet points?
Also I don't like how you've just tacked on the very end that the alloys need a refurb, like you're almost trying to hide the fact.

Needs bullet-points of information and get rid of that stupid autotrader-style equipment list. Give us everything of interest separately.

IMPRESSIVE RELIABILITY RECORD. Lexus IS200 2002 Manual (Dec) 9.5 years old Two owners"Well equipped, reliable and rated highly by owners. Controlled rear-drive handling, rewarding manual gearshift and decent ride." MOT good until June 2013 Taxed until Dec 2012.

Low mileage all weather tyres Full service history, Folding rear seats, Remote central locking, alarm & Immobiliser, Air conditioning, Driver, passenger and side airbags, Original Lexus DAB radio/six disk CD Multichanger, Original Lexus/Levinson speaker audio aystem, Full size spare wheel/fifth alloy, Front and rear headrests and electric windows, Body coloured bumpers and factory skirts, Lexus 17 inch alloy wheels, Rear fog light, Electrically adjustable, heated and foldable wing mirrors, Power assisted steering, Traction, stability and snow control, Isofix child seat anchor points, Trip computer, Rear armrest.

Perhaps you could include some from the above the list if they are different to the normal spec

Regularly serviced. The following items have been replaced,

  • item 1 Bushes replaced with Lexus OEM parts 2011.
  • item 2 Rear springs and dampers replaced with Lexus OEM parts 2011.
  • item 3 Cambelt done 2010.
  • item4 Front bottom ball joints, brake pads and fluid, fan belt, water pump, iridium spark plugs replaced.
Alloys need a refurbAlloys will require some attention soon(and perhaps include a photo of two of the worst bits?)

Complete with Lexus Owners Handbook in original owners pack. Not a Jap import. Non-smoker.

With the photos, as they come up in the advert,

Photo 1 appears to have been taken at dusk.
Photo 2-3 just from a photography point of view you haven't fitted the whole car in the frame.
Photo 4 fine, maybe remove whatever is on the gearstick.
Photo 5 a bit blurred maybe take from outside car if you want to show condidtion of rear seats.
Photo 6-8 fine, maybe mirror the shot of the drivers seat from the passenger side, purely for condition of interior.
Photo 9-10 of rear door cards a bit pointless maybe, unless rear door cards are item that fail often on a IS200.
Photo 11 again fine.
Photo 12 a bit pointless and blurred.

Hope this helps and all IMO

Also a PistonHeads observation not yours don't know if it is my browser or what but is "Lexus IS" as low as you can filter model wise?

Hang on, is that a bonnet stay? Lexus wanted to go toe to toe with BMW but didn't give it a gas strut? Christ. Apart from that, love these cars.

Thank you so much, especially civicduty!

I've edited the advert accordingly and am now wondering about the price.
Do you think I'm asking for too much, too little, or just right?

Had a look at the new advert, you might want to delete the bits in bold as they were due to my fail with working out the formatting of my post.

item 1Bushes replaced with Lexus OEM parts 2011
item 2Rear springs and dampers replaced with Lexus OEM parts 2011
item 3Cam belt replaced 2010
item 4Front bottom ball joints, brake pads and fluid, fan belt, water pump, iridium spark plugs also replaced.

Will have a look at the price when I am at home, though only in comparison to others on PH, which you could do yourself wink

Also if, as I said in my other post, any of the items you had listed previously would make the car stand out use them, just not all of them wink

Hi Civicduty,

I've done a comparison with other cards of similar mileage on the site, I think the price is fair. I think she is good to go!

Thanks,
Dave

Hi,

Are you sure this car is the LE (Limited Edition) model?

The Limited Edition models came in a dark grey with a black leather interior and different wheels, multispokes i think. Type "IS200 LE" into google image search to see what i am saying.

The interior in your car is from the base spec "S" model, which comes with some boring looking 16" wheels as standard, but these are often changed to the 17" wheels from the "SE" and "Sport" models, the same as those on your car.

In spite of this, good look with the sale of your car.

took me ages to find the mileage.
40k miles and fully documented? I'd lead on that. don't hide strong points like this.
IMPRESSIVE RELIABILITY RECORD means nothing to me. When I told my mate that my discover air suspension failed twice in the first 8 weeks of ownership, his response was 'impressive'...

"2002 Manual (Dec) 9.5 years old" all mixed up, why have to stuffed the word manual in the middle.

How many owners?

Is the body free of dents and dings? Is the interior immaculate/good etc?

Definately better photos of the exterior would help (assuming that you aren't deliberately hiding things!)
