Mondeo TDCI 04 plate dmf costs?

My dads mondeo has suffered dmf failure. They go on holiday tomorrow so he has asked me to get some quotes to ge it done.

I know it is going to be expensive so can anyone give me a rough idea so I know I am not getting my pants pulled down please?

A guy at my work had his done for around £800, I'm not sure if that's average but I know in general they are costly things to replace!

Unfortunately with the mondeo it's not just the cost of the new DMF that's the issue. The entire sub frame has to be dropped to get the gearbox out, meaning many man hours to do. £800+ at a guess

Thanks chaps. A lad I know who's a bit of a mechanic said 10-12 hours labour!

The Mazda6 (which uses the same subframe setup/box/DMF) is 5.6 hours, so no idea where 10-12 hours comes from
