Or does the Republic of Ireland have their own type of DVLA?

Well the Republic of Ireland is nothing to do with the UK so I'd assume they have their own.

DVLA only covers the UK, NI has it's own office, Southern Ireland is its own Country, and nothing much to do with us.

Southern Ireland do these days have limited access to DVLA NI, and vice versa.

To the best of my knowledge, Swansea is still out of bounds to them, and long may it remain so, swansea was also out of bounds to the NI office, for obvious reasons, I'm not sure what access, if any they have these days.

  • I know the bog hoppers like it called ROI, I just like the term "Southern Ireland" biggrin

I think that its spread about and there isnt one such authority. The national car testing service does the MOT, you buy tax through the revenue service..
