Diesel in France - fill up here or there?
Discussion
Depends where you fill up, but yes France is cheaper.
Boulogne on Saturday -- filled up at an Esso petrol station 1.47 EUR/litre for diesel, which worked out at £1.28 at the exchange rate we were using (~1.15 EUR/GBP). So saved about £8.25 on 55l of fuel, which paid for a third of my return ferry ticket.
However, then about 5 minutes later drove past a Carrefour supermarket which was selling diesel at 1.35 EUR/litre! So could have saved much more if I had known about the price variance, which I couldn't have at the time.
Either way, cheaper to do it there than in England.
