Something just as annoying as the fog light cocks are the flashers.

My daily commute is mostly un lit B roads in the dark. When you come over the brow of a hill to oncoming traffic YES my lights will appear brighter for a bit. Equally as I enter a left hand bend and you exit my beam angle will be facing you. I an not on full beam and rarely am, I know the route well. I don't have xenons or a boot full of crap affecting my beam.

Rant done.

Maybe it's because you keep driving through deep water too quickly and not in the middle of the road... whistle

Or maybe you actually have a badly adjusted headlight? idea

If no one else is about its through the water fast.. its a company car.

As for the alignment its brand new. I've never been flashed on the straights. Do people not understand Headlight angles and how the position of the car alters this?

Yet logic would dictate if multiple people are flashing you then maybe the alignment isn't bang on, or is too near the limit that it is causing oncoming cars an issue.

No. I find most people are generally ignorant of most aspects of their cars. Expect them all to be idiots be pleasantly suprised when one isn't...

That's not a guarantee that the headlamps are correctly aligned, I had a couple of cars in for their first MOT last week which both had their headlamps too high and too far over to the right, which suggests to me that they have been like it since new.

Yes, I get this frequently. And no, it's nothing to do with poor alignment. It's to do with cocks who don't understand that the DS idea didn't take off, and lights keep pointing forward. So coming round a right-hand-bend towards me or up a hill as I come over the brow, yes, my lights appear brighter. fk off with your flashing.

if it's a new car what makes you so sure it's correctly aligned? do many dealers check them on the pre-delivery checks? or assumed they were correct from the factory, do the factories test them before sending them out or do they expect them to be adjusted correctly by the machines that install them?

Strange, I live in the country and my nightly commute to work takes me along a few unlit roads with crests and bends and yet I have never had anyone flashing at me suggesting I had my high beam lights on. Maybe your lights are just poorly adjusted?

Yes, it's true to say that most people will be wholly ignorant of how their lights work but if you're getting that many people flashing at you..

As I say, I've been driving this route for about three years now in six different cars and I've never had this problem, and I would guess it's my route and conditions are not dissimilar to yours...

There's a simple guide here on how you can quickly check your headlamp alignment... http://www.ehow.co.uk/how_6196576_check-headlight-...

Check it, and if it's wrong, take it back to have them set up correctly.

If some of you are getting flashed all the time while the rest of us never get flashed at all this does seem like the most likely explanation.

Agreed. One of ours had a headlight bulb upside down from new...

Point your car at a wall, about 2 meters away, your lights should kick up to the left to illuminate the kerbside of the road and the rest of the beam should be flat, if not get them sorted.

Another issue is people suffering night blindness and its a bigger issue than you think.

Tried this on the garage door and seems ok. I think its more about being the only oncoming car on a completely un lit area. Only get it over the brow of a hill or from people exiting a bend I'm about to enter.

I'm convinced they don't understand that the angle of my approach will momentarily make my lights seem to bright.

No I don't think that's it. For them (the key point being multiple different people at different times), to flash you, your lights must be dazzling.

What car is this on? Is it a 4x4 or softly sprung vehicle? Do you have electronic headlight adjustment? If you do it might be worth moving it a notch or two and see if you still get flashed. If you don't then it answers the question.

And yes of course angle of the road or a bend will have an influence, but if you are dazzling/blinding oncoming cars then you are dazzling/blinding oncoming cars....

Many people likely drive the same roads without others flashing them - so again logic would suggest your headlights are not perfectly setup for the roads you are driving on.
