You'd be amazed how fast people will drive here in the winter. The little pile of snow that builds up in the middle of a lane, and between lanes, people will just cross that with no concern for steering angle, or that they may actually lose traction. Always wary.

This +1. There are so many countries that don't have central reservation barriers and their accident toll is huge. Russian States, India, and China come to mind. We are so lucky having these on most UK roads. Simply, they save lives.
