Another "What car"!
Discussion
Hello Pistonheads,
Looking at getting a new motor in the new year to replace the current '03 Z4 2.5i.
Budget will be £13-14k~ max, however that isn't to say I need to spend it all
I would even be open to the idea of two cars (one every day and one track) potentially.
My criteria really are:
- Number of seats not important, being 20 with no children or partner I rarely need more than two.
- Fun, do a reasonable number of track days currently and a lot of weekend driving.
- Reliable. It is also my means of getting to work and back, around 10 miles a day.
- Anything else doesn't really matter. I don't really want to drop below 25 or so MPG though ideally.
Been looking at a range of cars in there including:
- Newer Z4 (facelift). 3.0si most likely. Toyed with a Z4M but that would mean spending a little more
- E46 M3. Liking the sound of this.
- VX220T
- 350Z. Even high mileage 370Z's are nudging my price bracket now.
- Boxster (S). Really high on the list actually.
... And then I really am struggling for ideas!
So that is it, over to you denizens of the forum.
Chris.

Clio 200?
Superb on track, reasonable MPG, fairly quick. Looks special in the right colour (blue/yellow/green) - I had a 197 R27 before my golf R32 and I miss it sorely, so much so I might go 'back' to a 200 next summer. Failing that the E46 M3 sounds like a good bet!
I had no problems with my clio in the time that I had it , you can probably get one with 12-18 months warranty too so should give you peace of mind.

996 911 C2. Great car.
Believe me I thought about it, but.. Everyday? I dunno, heard a few (expensive) horror stories relating to them.911 is the dream one day though
As for the Clio, not a massive hot hatch fan really.
That stance might change after a drive though, who knows.
Enjoy a 2 seater whilst you can.
Boxster but get a warranty for peace of mind. Nothing worse than having your enjoyment spoilt by fear.

If not, then an M3 would be lovely.
