Shipping a car overseas

Did thieves steal £170,000 Ferrari racing car to order? Hummmmmm.......shipping container you say?

I'm assuming Ro-Ro means driving it on and off? If so, I'm also assuming you have to be there at both ends, or let someone from the ship do it for you? Isn't that how many Japanese imports came to the UK with blown turbo's etc as the monkey from the ship would rev the nuts off it at the dock?
If I choose the Ro-Ro route, is there any way to protect against this?

This is going in a container, but it's not my car, I'm organising it for a friend.
Whether container or RoRo is better is hard to know, another advantage of container is that it is much easier to arrange, there are lots of container ships, not so many RoRo are going to where you want. The big RoRo customers are the manufacturers, your car will be just filling spare space so it can take a while to get on a ship.

No, but it is amazing how easy it is to export a vehicle you don't own.

I'm shipping a car to Australia at the moment, my quotes were a 20ft container at £1,740 whereas sending it by RoRo was £1,157.
If that includes insurance (as OP specified) I'd say it's bargain of the week?Of course shipping is only the start of it, particularly if going to Australia, there's a whole bunch of taxes and other charges to pay that make the shipping a relatively small part of it.
