Alfa Mito vs Audi A1- Which would you have??
Discussion
I had the same choice in March, drove a mito, gear box was rubbish and that silly DNA switch was pointless, Audi ride quality (sport model) was horrific and i couldn't stomach the thought of doing a lot of motorway miles in it...then I went to have a look at a fiesta (also on the list i was choosing from) and the dealer happened to be twinned with a KIA garage.....
Ended up with a Rio in top spec 5dr model for about £60 less a month (lease cost) than the Audi. If you can look past the badge, the spec is miles better than either the Mito or the A1, the ride is better than either, the plastics and interior are not as good as either although the Alfa has some pretty ropey bits of trim in places, but overall I figured it was better, also a bit bigger than either inside.
I think it looks pretty handsome if a little anonymous, plus that 7 year warranty is a bonus.

Neither. The Mito is essentially a Punto, and the A1 a Polo - both hardly inspiring starting points.
Although there's more Polo in the A1 than there is Punto in the Mito.Edited by RacingBlue on Monday 12th November 12:58
I'd go for the Mito every time. The A1 is just so uninspiring. And if you're that fussed about residuals why are you buying a new car in the first place?
Mito.
I pulled up next one of these at the lights last week

He was heading onto the m'way and the lane I was in also allowed me to do so (even though I wasn't planning on)
I had an overwhelming urge to join the m'way just to pan his racing sports handbag down the sliproad.
What a terrible, terrible car.

I used to have a Mito 155 Veloce and my sister currently has a A1 1.4TFSI. As pointed out already the A1 is a Polo (or a Skoda Fabia) and the Mito is actually a Vauxhall Corsa/Punto.
As a drivers tool both are dynamically flawed, especially the Mito which does a terrible job of getting power down. The A1 covers its dynamic flaws a little better. The A1 is streets ahead in terms of build quality. If i had to go for either I would go for a smaller engined variant. A cheap 95bhp Mito would be a great car and similarly I would go for the cheapest A1 you could get. Brand new I would pick a 500 over both of them.
But theres a good reason the Mini is so popular. Its the best of the four to drive by a long way.
