4x4 -What's better (sensible / petrolheady) - Diesel OR LPG?
Discussion
Buy a vehicle like a X5 or Cayanne with petrol engine and you'll single handidly be supporting 12 families of asylum seekers to live in supreme luxury. But what are the pros/cons of what's left - diesel or LPG
OBVIOUS:
Diesel - about 10mpg more, and if serviced occasionally will last you to the moon and back at least twice.
LPG - probably a better engine note and more P....O....W....E....R....R....R....R!!!!
If you buy second hand (LPG tank fitted), the extra outlay is covered so no saving there. (is there any difference between LPG conversions or are they all the same?)
Anyone know what the actual costs will be, per mile? And per year servicing etc? (before I go buy an X5)
I.E. If the LPG is slightly more expensive to run, how much more - and does it have the same/similar BHP as the petrol version? If not, what %age?
Last (stupid) question - is it safe to fit a superchip to an LPG powered car? And do you get the benefits of better economy/performance?
