....and back on topic, anyone got any ideas.
Why no ice forum on ph?
A question that is coming up more and more in recent months. Attracts the "wrong type of person" apparently. Feels good to be judged by a preference for higher quality audio doesn't it? Why no ice forum on ph?

Is this as an addition to a factory set up or a custom build that you have undertaken yourself?
Ice is intrinsically linked to cars...this is a car site is it not.
There's plenty of tasteless junk being posted, the only option offered is the sat-nav section. Which is about as a dull a forum topic as its possible to get.
Back on topic though...as a dash speaker upgrade on my 95 aero. They run from the external factory amp.
Any advice appreciated.

I like the JL audio stuff, along with Focal and Rainbow for the decent (but ultimately lower budget) stuff

Its good to know what size speakers fit in a 95 Aero, as that is what I am looking for next, and the stereo will e something that will be changed, as one of the biggest bug bears with the vx is the lack of sound quality that can be achieved, without hacking it around to te point where others wont want it

I can recommend Focal as Andy mentions above. Very clear and excellent quality without breaking the bank but it's been a long time since i was into this type of thing that things may have changed quite a bit.
You can spend a lot of money on Car Audio but if you've got any local specialists it's far better to pop down and listen to the type of music you normally listen to through different speakers. Definitely avoid Halfords more so because they will only have a limited number of general brands (nothing wrong with Alpine if you're on a budget though) so a more car audio based specialist would be the best advice.

Not an easy job with saab...I'll dig out a good site to give you an idea of whats involved and what you need to look for in your new car. http://caraudiosecurity.com/shop/product/products_...

would appreciate more links though, nothing better than a proper research session

bloody hell fire, i understood they were more complicated than most normal car audio set ups, but that is taking the biscuit!will have to do som more digging, i have sene plenty of guys on SaabCentral have put new HU in, my plan would be similar, and remove the original speakers and amp and re do te entire system
did i read somewhere they used fibre optics at one point instead of the normal wires for the speakers?
