Best car I've had for passing MOTs was a ten year old Suzuki WagonR.

Bought at ten years old and passed next three MOTs with only a new set of tyres. Changed the oil once for good measure - still going strong and looks like new.

I only buy old cars with low mileage (and only drive about 5000 miles pa) but never had one as good as this.

Had Volvos, Fords, VWs, Fiats - all failed every year.

What's your best?

My Mazda MX-5. Three MOTS = 1 set of wiper blades.

Had no advisories either until this time.

Brake pads little low? No problem.

Wear on on tyre edge? Surprised but no problem.

General chassis, exhaust and suspension corrosion. WTF?

So its gone from having nothing one year ago to being a rustbucket. furious Thanks a lot for your opinion, Mr MOT tester. You've just made selling my car really hard work if I have to, until the next MOT comes round. And its now on the DVLA record for that car. furious

My Audi S2 was pretty decent. I always kept it in good nick but it sailed through every MOT for the 6 consecutive years I owned it from 130k to just shy of 170k on the clock. Didn't even need a wiper or bulb replacing. smile

The 540i has been okay so far although I was given some pointless advisories last time around...!

My 528i is my only car in 5 years (and two cars before it) that has passed first time. Couple of advisories.

Both my Punto and Focus always needed work.

The positivity towards BMW in this thread is cheering me up. I have my first MOT with my 1996 525i on Friday, and I could really do with it passing! (I have already organised a two-post ramp and some tools for Friday in case it fails, and I've checked that the local ECP has the usual failure parts in stock)

I P/Xed my 16-year-old Volvo 850 at about 184 000 miles earlier this year, and prior to that I'd owned it for about 10-11 years. It never once failed an MoT. smile We had a couple of advisories over the years, but it never failed.

It never left me stranded at the roadside, either. The only thing that went wrong with it in all that time - apart from the usual wear parts - was a failed alternator.

I miss my Volvo. frown

5 so far on the 05 Mustang but it still only has 13k on the clock.

Only advisories were an airbag light which i fixed by replacing the seatbelt assembly and handbrake cables which are a known weak spot and which I'll replace only when it actually fails as the handbrake holds perfectly well.

My Prelude has never failed an MOT in it's 14 year on the road. Still have the old certificates to prove. The only advisories that have been described are a misaligned headlight and tyres on a couple of occasions, all when in previous ownership.

1999 Nissan Micra 1.3

We've had it 7 years now and it's never had one advisory!

Maintenance = 1 set of tyres, battery and replaced a failed distributor.

2 so far for me on a 1999 Peugeot 106 GTi with 108,000 miles. 3rd MOT at the end of Nov so will see if it makes 3 consecutive passes.
