So, I am lucky enough to have three cars but i'm struggling to figure out what the best (and cheapest) way to insure them is.....

the wife has 11yrs NCD, I have 7 years NCD, how would we do the following....

My occasional car - Fully comprehensive insurance
Me as the main driver - wife named on the policy as occasional driver.

Wifes car - Fully comprehensive insurance
Wife is main driver - me named on policy as occasional driver

Station car - Fully comprehensive (or third party fire and theft)
Me as the main driver - wife named on the policy as occasional driver

Do I put my NCD on the occasional car and the wife puts her NCD on her car then what about the station car?

Can we use one of our NCD's on two cars as we are only ever going to be driving one at any one time! confused

We currently have:

car 1 - wife's; insured by wife with Direct Line with me as named driver

car 1 - mine; insured by me with DL with wife as named driver

car 3 - also insured by me with DL with wife as named driver.

DL will allow you to use your NCD on another car. That's the full NCD (max 9 years) for both cars, not splitting the NCD in half or anything. They advertise this on their site I believe.

In the past car 3 had been on a limited mileage calssic policy, so NCD doesn't apply, i.e. don't need one and don't earn one, but the current arrangement is more flexible, i.e. can use the car for commuting etc.
