Blast in a GTR today for £60
Discussion
I thought this was a good offer today, had a driving experience booked for the other half today in Stafford with an audi r8 and they had a few different motors there. Gallardos, 360's, evo's, an Elise etc, and then I see a Nissan GTR parked up at the side, £60 for six laps and no waiting time as nobody else was interested in it!
What a car. I didn't have to book either which was good, this is a car you have to drive if you get the opportunity.
Instructor was cool too, let me give it a real blast each lap (not a huge circuit) but good fun.
The firm was driveme.net

As much as I admire the technology in the GTR and how quick they are... I find it a bit dull?
I know they're bonkers fast, but when I drove one it was so easy to go fast that it just wasn't exciting at all.
Go stick it down a b-road. You won't be saying that.I know they're bonkers fast, but when I drove one it was so easy to go fast that it just wasn't exciting at all.

They don't belong on a B road, I'm afraid, far too lardy. Suspect a well driven hot hatch/7/elise, would not be upset, keeping up with one. I mean, what speeds are you suggesting travelling at, down that rutted, narrow, tractor/cyclist infested B road. Have a word.
The -roads around me an't any of that, there are plenty of dual width highly visible roads. And do you know what else I own?? Trust me even the M400 is slower like for like.Ninjaboy said:
Driveme.net looked rubbish from what i saw, it was an old airfield with a coned off oval. My GF's bro did it and it didn't seem great value.
For £60 for a blast it was value for me. The instructor was a decent bloke, who was ok with e putting my foot down and accelerating hard. Track was hardly a track though, short, couple of turns etc. worth it though.I was chatting to the instructor before I got in, and realised he was the same guy I had with me in a noble m12 at prestwold hall a few years back.

Clearly a) hasn't driven one, b) hasn't tried to keep up with one in a hot hatch/7/Elise. From experience I know a seven would be deeply upset keeping up with one even if it had a higher power to weight ratio. GTRs are even faster than their stats suggest in real world conditions, deeply impressive bits of kit really.icepop said:

Some roads yes, there is only so fast you can go down them in any car but if that is your arguement then whats the point of any fast car.Having owned a nicely tweaked busa powered westfield producing 400+bhp/ton and now a stock GTR I can say you would have to drive the westfield uncomfortably fast to keep pace with a stock GTR on any road and as for an elise or a decent hot hatch..............Forget it!
