Evening all,

I am likely to have the use of a friends MINI while they are offshore for ~4mths. It would appear that insuring it as being owned by 'another driver' (as it is) rather than myself adds 95% onto preliminary quotes!!

Have other people come across this? Seems a very large increase.

Well, is it an increase from £100 to £195 or an increase from £1,000 to £1,950? Same percentages but very different situations!

~£500 to £1k

Regardless of the value, still a silly %!

Yes, that's a big one. Whose insurer are you talking to? I'm sure you'll be able to get better quotes if you shop around. I've certainly been able to insure "not owned" cars at acceptable rates.
