So, we now have a number of Hypercars coming to the market in the next 12 months - the Pagani Huayra has already been tested by some journalists.

Looking at the specs released, if it is fair to only compare statistics without ever having the chance to try one, if you were a multi-millionaire looking to purchase the best new Hypercar which do you go for? And why?

For argument's sake I have included the list of what I think are the main choices. There may be others that you may wish to add..

1) McLaren P1

2) Ferrari F150 (the next Enzo)

3) Pagani Huayra

4) Porsche 918

For the record I would go for the Ferrari because I think it will break new ground technically - especially in weight, and it is based around a naturally aspirated engine. I feel the P1, whilst not yet confirmed, will use an evolution of the chassis/powerplant available in the MP4 12 C to save on costs with it's desirability diminished for me as a consequence of that.
The Porsche looks amazing with it's technical masterclass hybrid powertrain and would probably be my second choice. The Huayra, whilst exotic in a way only Pagani can offer, to me is a disappointment in comparison to the drama of the Zonda.

None of them appeal in the slightest, to be honest. I'd be looking to classics for my big-money car purchases if I was rich enough.

So many better ways to spend obscene amounts of money than on a hypercar I doubt you can ever use to anything like its full capability on a public road.

The car is less important than where and how the money would allow you to use it.

Nobody likes to make mistakes, so I think it'd be best to get one of each.

That would certainly be one. And probably a Miura to go with it. smile

Ferrari FXX. May aswell buy a Hypercar designed for the only place it can be used to it's full potential.

Lovely!

This for me...

If I was obscenely rich I'd have a Muira too.

I agree with all of the above...having said that I would also mention that you have missed out on the Jaguar CX-16, SSC Tuatara hyper cars and the Koenigsegg Agera R.

I believe that EVO magazine done a feature on your list of up and coming super cars, earlier this year.

I would like to know what SSC Tuatara ends up like. Will it just be a straight line performer or actually handle. 275mph top speed (claimed) is insane silly

No £1.3m name it yourself Zonda on there, so I'll go with the P1. I really like the look of it.

Need to see a little more of the F70, or whatever they call it, to make a final decision.

How about a Hulme F1? Spectacular looking. Mind you, it only has a Chevy lump in it....

Huayra in red/CF. The front is ugly as sin, but rest of the car stuffed with crazy details and I really like the exclusivity bit...
Ferrari is a close second, HAS to be an epic drive. McLaren leaves me cold as the MP4-12C, it may be the fastest but I don't connect with it enough to want to buy it... Porsche, meh, dull looking with no clear identity.

But in the end my no. 1 is Zonda F Clubsport, the 2nd is an F50 and the third is a Carrera GT... Meaning; I want midmounted, naturally aspirated engine + a manual gearbox. That breed has died out... frown

I agree 100%.

The present crop of hypercars leave me cold. Which is just as well as I have absolutely zero chance of being able to afford any of them unless I win the euromillions. Which is unlikely as I don`t play.

Now, I`m off to scour the classifieds for that £3,000 MX5 I promised myself.

I'd design and build my own hypercar. Why compromise if cost is no object?

What about the new Jag? I love the idea of a road car that revs to 10,000...

This is the way I'd go but using a proprietary underpinning. Didn't Eric Clapton or someone like that have a redesigned Ferrari? It is, of course, possible to get it badly wrong as we have seen many an ugly car like the Bugatti EB110 and Gumpert but at least then your car would be unique.
