Hi All,

I have seen recently some lorrys/vans that have a silly amount of coloured lights on the front, one of which were all blue and lets say they were NOT dim they were very bright!

Is this illegal ? if i put 10-20 blue LEDs on the front of my car i would get pulled in a matter of miles....

Is this legal?

Yes.

Ignoring Police Camera action there is no law stating the blue lights must not be visible on the front of a vehicle.

Lights must not resemble flashing blue beacons however.

I seem to recall that it's only if the flashing light is attached to the vehicle. Therefore a motorcyclist could ride around with the blue flashing light on his helmet and not be in contravention of C&U.

Anyone know if this is legal? Part of me is hoping it's true biggrin

If it is not illegal to have them as long as they are not flashing i might have to invest in some LEDs for the grill of the focus smile

So why are under-car neons illegal?

The best ones are those with an illuminated tribute to their favourite football team in the cabin behind the driver. Tacky and annoying!

I think there's a rule about not showing any colour other rearward, but red. (And white when reversing, and amber when turning.)
I also think you're not allowed to show red anywhere appart from the rear.

So in theory maybe you could have neons, so long as they are red from the back?
