Lotus Carlton, appreciating classic or not yet
Discussion
I seem to remember these things being in the 25k bracket for a good one a few years ago. Now it seem there are examples around the £14000. is this a appreciating classic of is these price still to tumble on this car still. I know of a low mileage 62000 miles with full service history. 3 owners all old mots in superb condition for £14300.

No, they're well past depreciation. It's a very limited production car with monster power and a fun history, plus it's a classic lotus, and also a very good car. If you can afford a low miles car to keep low miles it will likely appreciate.
but im right in my thinking these were at the 25k area 4-6 years ago ?I had been saving a space in my garage for a bit of yank metal. However that particular deal has fallen though. So been looking at a depreciation proof 80s to early 90s car as this was the time i left for the states and looking to regain a bit of nostalgia.

Interesting how E30 M3 & Intergrale values have caught the Lotus up - both of which could have been bought for sub £8k not so long ago. Ive yet to see a decent Lotus under £15k.
Scarey how the BM & Lancia have shot up along with early CB750's & Z900's etc. The clocks on a CB750 are now worth triple the px value my uncle was offered for his clean K1 15 years ago. Its all a bit mental.

It's very difficult to see where the used values end up. I'm shocked at how a tidy lotus sunbeam can be worth more than a lotus Carlton. I think the values have yet flourish.
I can see a big shake up in different cars premiums rising and others dropping.
I would have thought the escort rs 1600i would be worth more by now.
Maybe the lotus carlton isn't cool enough yet. The interior is dated, along with the Carlton shape, just maybe not dated enough.
I'm not sure the younger generation have the same passion for cars which may alter the outcome for classics.

£14k or so has been the going rate for the Big Bad for some yrs now.
Its priced roughly double over the M5, so it has a premium on its contemporary rivals.
Against it are large running/maintenance costs, no comp history still relatively young.
Another 10 yrs and it will probably be a different story.
