...sponsoring 'Road Safety Week'.

As far as I can tell, Brake are an anti car pressure group who exploit the parents of children who died in tragic circumstances to further their goal of a car free society and I for one am having nothing to do with it. They contribute little or nothing to the road safety debate and should be ignored at all costs.

There, needed to get that off my chest!

Actually they do valuable work raising awareness of the danger of speed.

Speed is not dangerous, its stopping that is the problem.

You mention the parents of dead children - there was one on the radio yesterday campaigning for 20mph zones in built up areas after her son was killed in a hit and run

He was killed in a 30 zone by some idiot doing 60. Fail to see how the lower speed limit would have helped personally rolleyes

I think they should spend more time helping parents educate children about the dangers of playing on roads.

I live in a small cul-de-sac that always has some child on their bike riding flat out with no idea how to brake properly and no lights. Everyday when I get home I enter the close at about 2mph incase one of the kamikazi children decide my bonnet looks like a fun place to park their face. Their parents have no idea what they are up to and they have no idea how dangerous it could be...

So, yeah... Stupid BRAKE!

Shame really. I think they've raised some good concerns and have changed things for the better in the past. The 20mph speed limit in built up areas is a great idea and makes me feel a lot more comfortable allowing my children to play at night near roads.

The 60mph national speed limit is way to high in my opinion too. Driving that fast legally, with no crash barriers and trees on the side of the road is just foolish. Can't see what all the fuss is about the new 50mph zones, as I'm sure it has saved many lives.

Nobody forces you to drive on those roads and nobody forces you to drive at the limit. However, if you're not confident that you can avoid trees (which are not known for their ambulatory properties), perhaps you should ask if you should really be driving at all ?

She came on the news, I had to turn it off immediately.

Why not try and have a reasoned debate with the brake members? I bet they will simply shout you down as simple logic fails on them.
