Subaru Leggy 3.0r spec B to 535d, happy?

I brought a Leggy spec B a few months back. It wasn't on my shopping list but right price, right time. I like it, like the toys, noise, linear but revy performance and 4 wheel drive traction albeit a bit more understeery than my old Evo but scope to learn the handleing foibles. But it's a saloon and we just got a dog and my driving is mainly stop, start, quick hoon when I can i.e 20mpg.

Needs must and a dirty diesel is now on the shopping list. 535d Touring seems to tick as many boxes as I could hope to. Similar on paper performance (pre remap natch) but at least twice the price for an 05ish model.

Will it put a smile on my face like the subaru, dynamically is it fun, (ducks for cover) A to B how would it fair against a Spec B and is 30-40 mpg an unreasonable hope?
