I know MK2 Golf's, 205 GTI's, BMW 3 series and Caterhams make great track day cars but what is the most innapropriate track day car you have come across, or for that matter can think of ?

How about a Citroen XM as a start ?

Hmm, based on a 200 chassis, I wonder if uprated Rover 200 coilovers and other bits could be used ? a dumped int he weeds Freelander track day car, junk the K series and put in a T series turbo in.

I'm nicking this idea from a friend and former colleague, but what the hell: a Ford Scorpio. If you got the 24v, you'd at least have a half-decent powerplant to start with...

I went to a track day once and there was a fella in his work van there. He left his tools in the pits whilst he went out laugh It was Brands hatch btw.

This has been posted on this forum a few times, not my picture, car or me, but amusing nonetheless:

Come to think of it, I was looking into L200's last week and came across a video of one on YouTube that had a Cosworth YB fitted, that would be a bit scary.

I looked at this thread and thought "someone will post a series landie or a defender" and do you know what? Someone did.

I think you could do quite a lot with a Freelander. It's got to be possible to make it RWD only; strip it out; stiffen the suspension up; stick a big engine in the front;...

I chased a Freelander 2 across the Helsmley TT in my MX5 - I was more than surprised.

Hmm, based on a 200 chassis,
I've heard this before but I still have seen no evidence of this at all. Surely AROnline would have mentioned this?

There have been some fairly successful Freelander Rally cars so I doubt it's the most unsuitable car for a track day special.

I have seen a Shadow punted around Goodwood back in the 80s. It was a road legal standard car. As you would expect it rolled and understeered a bit, but went around aswering the helm OK. Rolls Royce engineers must do this in development just like any other car on the planet, it just looks wrong somehow smile
