Guys

I'm considering a lease hire through work and I was wondering how these lease companies work their prices out. Is it based on depreciation against list price. I'm finding Audi A3 cheaper then say an Alfa Guilleta although the models I'm choosing are around the same asking price.
Is there a industray milestone for value for money???? i.e is that why most company cars are audi a3's or vw golfs????? I'm want the best car for my buck!!

A lot of the guys here have opted for the Juke, so so cheap on lease hire

The wife has here car on a Zenith lease which gives you the savings on deductions based on it coming out of the Gross on her wage slip.

When we (read I) were doing the cost comparisons it was financially sensible to get one via the work scheme, vs buying direct from the dealer. Her lease includes everything except fuel, so maintenance, tyres, insurance, RFL the lot, and comes in at pretty much exactly the same as buying just the car from the dealer....but....leasing the car via work provides no equity in the car. Also the car will be leased to your employer and the insurance will not be in your name, so if you are intending on taking a 2yr+ lease, your personal NCB will expire if not in use...something to think about.

It is definitely the case the depreciation is taken into account though as most people i know who are also on the scheme were finding that the equivalent prestige marque was very similar or even slightly better than the mainstream manufacturer.

Case in point an Audi A3 5dr 140BHP TDI Blackline, is a couple of £ less per month than an Astra 160 CDTI SRI using the same quote criteria. but conversely if you decide you want to buy the car at the end of the lease, the Astra will be much less to buy at market value so depending on your priorities taking the hit on the astra in terms of road snobbery wins in the long run if you intend to keep the car at the end.

I know they use CAP as the guide for the end purchase price if you request to go down this route so i suppose as expected this is what they use to determine the depreciation aspect of the total life lease cost to you.

ETA, as an aside, I know from a mate that Audi were offering a free upgrade on Audi A3's bought as company lease cars recently, so you paid the same on an S-line as you would on a sport....
