Afternoon.

I am planning a trip to the Evo Triangle in febuary.

Hoping that a few of you PH'ers that have been could answer a few questions

What type of car would you take to best enjoy the roads? i.e roadster, hot hatch etc...
Were would be the best place to stay/eat/drink?
What other roads are there to explore in the area?

The trip is part of my friends stag-do, I really want to get it right!

Best.

Make sure you check out any potential roadworks beforehand

I went around it on a summer Sunday morning a few years back in my old 335d and had an absolute blast, even though the car was a bit heavy and big for it really. Followed some bikers who seemed to know the way, and it was great fun

There was a pub we stopped into in Betys that had good grub. Think this was it: http://www.tygwynhotel.co.uk/

Was there in June on the way to the Isle of Man, but it was lashing rain (lots of standing water eek) and there were roadworks for resurfacing, so it was really just a case of enjoying the scenery for most of the time, but I'll definitely be back

The Groes Inn, up the road from the Triangle, is supposed to be very good too, but we were too late for lunch frown

The ultimate driver's car for these fantastic roads.
Surely you would not be able to use all of the cars performance on the roads around the area. I have never been, so please educate me!

My missus grew up about half an hour away so we headed over in April. Brief account here:

I'd also recommend hunting out the Dutch Pancake House and the Groes Inn. Of course if it's a stag do then you need to go karting. This place is actually on the A5 leg of the Evo Triangle so head over. It's a great course but no good for fatties due to the massive hill. As I discovered to my cost.

The Groes keeps quite traditional hours. The Dutch Pancake House round the corner in Glyn Isa is worth a visit.

Great advice. Does anyone know of any other outside activities in the area i.e quadbiking, mountainbiking etc.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Does anyone have any thoughts on the point above?

So, I have narrowed down the car that I will take on the trip to the following,

Alfa Romeo GTV6 (Never owned an Alfa, quite fancy it)
Subaru Impreza (Im thinking here, about the typical weather in febuary.)
Mazda MX5 (Light, chuckable fun on these type of roads were top speed/high power output is not really useable)
RS Clio/Megane (Is there anything better than a well sorted hot hatch on these driving roads?)

Has anyone driven the Evo Triange and surrounding roads in any of the cars mentioned. Would be great to get some real world feedback..
