Teenage track and tinkering fun project...
Discussion
Hi Guys,
This is sort of a what car thread but it's a bit different so bear with it
Basically me and my 2 mates were going to go on a little holiday next summer but didn't really fancy the usual getting drunk in Spain sort of Inbetweeners holiday. We were planning on a little trip to Le mans and a bit of aeuropean driving on the way back including a trip to the ring. Now this was all getting planned fine when one of my friends got an oppurtunity to go into the trade he has been waiting for in the RAF, meaning it would clash with Le Mans and ruin the whole idea. So the holiday got called off and we said we'd postpone it until 2014.
Thing is we still wanted something to do this summer so we decided on a 3 way track car project to build together and then share.
We just need to choose a car:
Insurance/MOT/Tax is no issue, it will be garaged and trailered and those parts are already covered. We are putting £50pm into the car fund each and plan on spending as little as possible on the car.
A bit of background info, our current cars are:
Peugeot 106 Gti, Renault Clio 182 and Citroen Saxo Vtr(soon to be replaced with a Honda Civic 1.6 Sport) Between us we have a very good selection of tools and the guy with the Saxo is an engineer with a fairly good knowledge of mechanics, with a Haynes manual we could probably do a lot of the work on the car ourselves as long as the car is fairly simple. So what it needs to be:
- Under £1000
- Basically a good chassis, the rest can be improved in time.
- Cheap parts, OEM and Uprated.
- Light as possible
- Preferably N/A
- RWD would be a nice change as none of us have ever owned a RWD car.
Any feedback would be great as I've thought of a few things but i'm sure you all have nice ideas.
Thanks.
