Its a Sunday so I can't call round local garages but still after a rough idea on the cost of replacing a front wheel bearing on a VW Lupo.

Internet says it's not a DIY job (although I doubt that. Anything can be done at home with the correct tools or some clever thinking) but I need 2x new front tyres and the tracking will need doing anyway so needs to be in a garage at some point. May as well just let them do it.

Tyres and tracking will be circa £120. How much extra can I expect to pay for a single front wheel bearing to be replaced (provided they don't need to replace anything else at the same time...)?

Cheers smile

I get mine done for £40. The internet isn't wrong, most modern wheel bearings can't be pressed in manually so unless you have the tool it isn't going to happen.

Is that taking the car to them and letting them do it all or is that you stripping the hub off and taking it to them to press in the new one?

Big socket and hammer & Chisel to get it out and a vice to press it back.

That's me dropping the car off and lifting it again in the evening, not even loosening a wheel nut. I got front wheel bearing and two CV boots done on a DC2 Integra last week for £70. He was at it about 4 hours. Hope that helps.
