My MOT expires on Thursday, and my Tax on Friday.
I can't really get an MOT until Saturday due to work commitments, and obviously cannot tax the car until i've had the MOT done.
Can i drive to the MOT test station first thing on Saturday, with an expired tax disc, and then straight onto the Post Office to get it taxed?

As far as I understand you can drive to and from the MOT centre but will then have to make your own way to get the car taxed.

I'm not sure about the legality, but i would have thought no tax would get you stopped by a traffic car if they passed you, but no MOT is unlikely to see you on the side of the road getting a ticket.

Yes you can drive to an MOT station provided you have a pre booked appointment, then away from the MOT station back home, or via the post office.

I'm pretty sure you can drive to the MOT on saturday if its pre-booked and then tax it after, been a while since i've had to do anything like this though smile

Tried it - as there isnt a valid MOT for 01/12 it wont let me.
Booked an MOT for 8:30 saturday. will have all the tax docs anyway and will go straight to post office after the test.

o that or tax it online after the test, the MOT will be flagged up with the DVLA immediately after the MOT is registered as passed.
I might as well go to the post office ill pass on the way home, and get the disc there and then...

You have a month before it expires to get the mot, which makes it much easier to tax online when you need to - says on the certificate what date is earliest you can present it for a 13 month mot

Worth noting for next year
