I didn't search but suspect its not been covered...

As we all know the british weather can be wet sometimes, and even worse in SW of Scotland. Myself and lads spend 9 hours everyday working out in it come rain, hail or shine. On thursday (torrential rain) we got soaked beyond belief - wet pants and all! I've always bought us cheaper waterproofs which start off fine, but within 6 months they've completely lost their proofing and worse, they're sweaty as hell. Seams go first, dampness through vents and then the plastic cracks and come through everywhere.

I've been doing some research and the best I can find so far is Flexothane. It seems to be a middle of the road in terms of costing (£50/60) and offers waterproofing as well as breathability. Not prepared to go to the expense of Gore tex and the like as it'll only get snagged / torn / thrown in back of van.

Any other suggestions?

I use the cheapest waterproof trousers from trespass (packa) and a helly Hanson over jacket from screwfix.

This is on a dirt bike travelling at up to 70 on the road and about 60mph across gravel and mud.

In the pouring rain!

Works well and is disposable

The other option is to wash the water proof gear with an additive which puts the water proofing back in, there's something on the market called Nikwax, which may be worth a try.

Army surpless camo goretex. Cheap as chips, tough, and waterproof and breathable.

One size fits nobody..

Though the Gore ones are a massive improvement on the "crisp packets" that went before.
