Private number plate?

Im after a private plate, its £1800 on regtransfers inc vat etc, £2650 for the same plate on another website...and it doesnt show up on a search on the official DVLA private plate site.
Does this mean it doesnt exist, or is it being sold by a private individual, in which case why is there a massive difference between the prices?
Theres also another one on regtransfers which is £700 but only £500 on the official dvla site... which is why i wanted to buy the first one through it...much cheaper.

The first one will be a private or a stock sale. Offer them a grand and they'll probably take it or come back with a counter offer. The second one is a DVLA sale and they are just trying to make their mark up. Buy it from the DVLA direct, presuming it is for sale there and not a guide price for an auction.
