I'm not a fan of run flat tires or space saver wheels, I always make sure I have a full size spare wheel and tire in my car.

However I have several friends who think they're a great idea, until you end up on a bad road going slightly faster than the road conditions allow, at which point all the tire weld in the world won't make up for not having a spare.

To be fair, the road in question wasn't in the UK, or representative of UK roads, but it did cost several hours of waiting for a tow truck when a spare would have got us back on the road.

Not unusual these days to just have a tire sealer and inflator. No spare in my 997s and had no spare in my M6 either ,despite no run flats fitted.
I hate the runflats. In my experience they ruin the ride. Had them on a 645ci and changed them for conventionals. Was like getting a new car.

Looking at it the tyre was boarderline slick anyway so probably wanted changing long before this happened.
