Hi guys

Been offered this as a part exchange for a car I'm currently selling. It's a bit rough but looks like it could be fun for the winter. What do you guys think?

I sought out a 5.7 Hemi (as they're mostly oil-burners). Very very pleased with it...but mostly because it's the Hemi I guess.

I wouldn't have touched a diesel, but if that doesn't bother you then the diesels are also very capable and comfortable on and off road.

I bought one as a winter beater and emergency towcar for my raceshuttle whilst my other half decided if she wanted Cayenne or RRsport...

Its been BRILLIANT!!!

all my car mates take the piss and call it the 'Heep' .... but all my non car mates and family think its great and its gets borrowed by friends and stolen all the time. Its in Oxford now with my sister. It just returned from Lake District from a mates honeymoom. I've had it out to Ring and Spa few times as well! its towed a big raceshuttle and car and spares and tires for 3 cars and still gets 20mpg at 60mph... not that bad really is it?

Been bombproof and is full of character and a lovely old girl. I often grab the keys ahead of anything else I have.... as its just easy to lollop about in and makes me smile....

I probably wouldnt buy another to be honest for the same money... only as I found my uncle a lovely Audi A6 Avant Quattro Biturbo diesel thing for £2.5k.... and blimey thats a proper thing compared with the Jeep.

So unless you need something with off road clearance... maybe look else where, and this is from a BIG 'heep' Lover smile

just seen price... I think thats cheap car for the year with LPG... but big miles.

GO ON! do it smile

I had the Overland version, with LPG and thought it was a great car ... until it lost all its water and promptly dropped a valve. Can't really blame the car for that - more driver error ! Comfy, good performance, reasonable towing capacity, reasonable build quality for that class of car - certainly better feel to the fixtures and fittings than its replacement WK model.

Had my ex-Ebay 2000 4L WJ for 2 years. It has been great. Bought at 82K now has nearly 105K. Had a battery, ignition lock, front callipers, 4 new AT tyres, rear wheel bearing & two radius arms in that time. Great old thing, takes the niece back to Uni with all her stuff, regular airport runs again fully loaded. Mine does 19MPG overall.

It's not, but they seem to have a good reputation. Anything I should look out for?

I love the description

It's been well used and abused. It has had more hits than the Beatles and to be honest, there's barely a straight or unstuffed panel on it. The worst bit is where I reversed it into a skip that's been there for 5 years. And some woman in a van lost control in the snow and dented the front wing.

As I use it as a workhorse - basically a comfy van - I couldn't be bothered to get them fixed. I still can't.

But given that level of apparent neglect, I'd be want to know how often the oil was change.

Not just engine oil, the rest of the lubricants need doing, auto box, axles, transfer box etc.

Our resident oil man can supply all the fluids you need.

Everything apart from a proper gearbox flush is doable by the noice home mechanic.

Great car's and the last grand cherokee with 2 proper axles.

We've got a 2003 4.0 Limited. Besides its thirst (17mpg average), it's a refined, comfy machine with serious off-road ability. My wife loves it.
