do you mean when the blades swipe across the screen? or the actual motor itself?

The blades as they go across the screen they are in good condition but seem to drag

are they cheap wipers? when were they last replaced - only thing you can really do is replace them and upgrade with (depening on your current ones) with aero ones or bosch ones.

If you have not done so recently, give the screen a good clean, it gets grime on it that can't be washed away by rain / screenwash and wiper action. If you don't have a product for it (I find that regular car shampoo is not good enough on its own sometimes) white vinegar does the job well, and it's something that everyone has in their cupboard.

Will Sarson's brown vinegar do? Or even non-brewed condiment from the chippy?

Polish the screen.

Buy some tidy wipers.

it could also be the mechanism that drives the wipers (between the wipers and the blades). this was a problem on my car. once that was fixed, the best wipers made it all even more quieter. Bosch Aeroblades (or whatever they are called).

Make sure the arms are at 90 degrees to the screen, i.e. not twisted.

This is the cause of most noise, if not square to the screen the blade is pushed along in one direction rather than swept across.

I've got a pair of Bosch wipers which have gone a bit smeary... Only bought in April!

Assuming the wipers are in good nick then, as others have said; you need to give the screen a damn good clean.

Next time you wash the car, use some detailing clay and decontaminate the screen - you'd be surprised at what comes off a 'clean' screen!

The Bosch wipers on my car have been on over 3 years and are still really good.
