I need to collect an engine this weekend, will be using a twin axle car trailer to do so, can anyone advise of the best way to secure the engine, naturally ratchet straps etc, but my concern was how to stop the engine from falling over as it will be naturally top heavy.

Thanks

Can you get a wooden pallet to sit it on? Maybe cut some sections out of said pallet to provide a kind of cradle for the engine?

Put a spare tyre on the trailer. Put the sump in the middle of the tyre, strap it down in several directions using the engine lift eyes and anything else that looks strong enough.

Drive carefully, corner slowly.

Engine on pallet and then some decent sized blocks of wood to level it then strap it all down.

Seems painfully obvious to me.

Make sure you get some long ratchet straps. I have had to do a last minute trip to B&Q/Halfords when I've suddenly realised that mine aren't long enough frown

If you really struggle with the above, I wouldn't loose any sleep over strapping it on its side to the bed of the trailer.
