I want to hire a car over the weekend and am considering using Enterprise as the cars I see when I walk past there Chatham office are always the latest models.

I've never hired a car before... from careful reading of their web page it'll cost me about £300 inc £200 deposit (which I'll get back) for 72hour Fri-Mon afternoon + fuel.

Is that expensive and if so is the Enterprise service worth paying the extra?

I have used WWW.carhire3000.com several times and can recommend them. cars usually come from enterprise/Alamo etc but at the corporate rate.

just remember to print out the hire voucher, no voucher=no car!

I hired a fiat 500 for a weekend for £79. No deposit.

Yes. Enterprise is expensive.

Does seem expensive, depends what car you're getting. I rented a new shape astra from National for 4 days over a bank holiday weekend and that was £180 and that was including a young persons charge as I was 24 at the time.

Try local places as opposed to well known brands, you can get some good deals sometimes.

I worked it out from the Enterprise web page, Class C (small compact) for 72 hours (special rate for weekends £16.66x3 + £10vat) is £59.98 + the insurance excess £35 + £200 Deposit scratchchin

So (in theory) once I've returned the car and they return the deposit, the rental cost will around £95 which seems fair to me...

Something with a reasonable MPG that won't struggle on the motorway... Fiesta, Corsa, Fiat 500, Mini, Astra, Focus.

Try talking to them, rather than going through the webpage. Just done a one day trip to Wales, and had a nice sippy Insignia Diesel for £40, rather than the £78 the website wanted.

Consider insuring your excess elsewhere, as their £650>100 was a tenner a day, which is over the odds.

Hertz ! Cheap, good service, locations everywhere. Try 'em.
That's who we use at work, although given some of the figures being mentioned on here it sounds like we get quite a good deal.
